Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees has 6 members. There are 4 parent representatives who serve for a three year term. The Principal and a staff member are also trustees. The Board is Involved in setting the strategic direction of the school, after a great deal of consultation with parents and staff. In June 2010, a new Board was elected.The new trustees are:
Margi Watson (Board Chairperson)
I have two children at Waterview School. They both attended Waterview Kindergarten and then moved on to the local school. We have lived in Waterview for many years - it's a great place to educate and bring up kids. My family settled in Tamaki Makarau (Auckland) in 1842 and have been here ever since. I come from a nursing background and work with teenagers. I am also an elected member on the Albert-Eden Local Board of the new Auckland Council.
Justin Newcombe (Deputy Chair/Property)
I’m a returning board member, and have two children at Waterview School. I have a Fine Arts background and run my own Landscape Design business. I have lived in Waterview for 13 years and have recently been
involved in setting up the Community Garden in the school grounds.
Brett Skeen (Principal)
As Principal of Waterview Primary School I work closely with the Board of Trustees to ensure that the school is a safe and friendly learning environment. I am a ‘hands on’ Principal and I interact with children and staff in a quiet and positive manner. As a father of two sons I am aware of children’s changing needs, and the requirements of the school and the community in meeting them. I work hard to make sure that each child receives a quality education.
Daniel Armstrong (Personnel)
I’m a new board member, and Dad to two children, one at Waterview School and the other at Waterview Kindergarten. I’ve lived in Avondale and Waterview for most of my life and I am a past pupil of Waterview School.
Carla Martell
I am a new Board member, with one child at Waterview School. My background is in design and the performing arts, and I have been a proud resident of Waterview since 2004.
Emma Henshaw (Staff Representative)
I am the staff representative on the Board of Trustees, the New Entrant teacher in Room 2 and have been teaching at Waterview Primary for four years. I am passionate about teaching and believe that children thrive when school, family and community relationships are strong and open.
